ADESHINA ADEWALE EXCEL DECLARES CANDIDACY FOR NATIONAL PRESIDENT OF THE HUMAN RIGHTS REPORT COMMISSION OF NIGERIA

 

Adeshina Adewale Excel has officially announced his intention to run for the position of National President of the Human Rights Report Commission of Nigeria (HRRCN) in the upcoming election scheduled for September 7, 2024. The election will be held in Asaba, the capital city of Delta State.

In his declaration, Excel emphasized that his candidacy represents a deep-seated belief in the power of unity. "Unity is bigger than numbers," he stated. "A dedicated group of individuals, who share a profound commitment to inclusiveness, have recognized my potential to lead and have chosen to support my representation for this esteemed role." His candidacy is endorsed by those who envision broadening opportunities within the HRRCN and strengthening its collective voice.

Excel called upon the members of the HRRCN to reflect on the association's true greatness, which he believes lies not in numbers or prestige but in the power of their individual and collective potential.

The role of National President within the HRRCN is vital, carrying the responsibility of safeguarding the rights of Nigerians, promoting fair hearings, fostering national unity, and ensuring the protection of people's interests. Excel is confident in his capability to fulfill this role effectively, citing his extensive experience and commitment.

Excel's leadership journey began in secondary school as the President of the Press Club, followed by roles as Public Relations Officer and Chief Editor during his undergraduate studies. His experience extends to various positions within the HRRCN at both the Southwest and National levels, where he has been recognized for his accountability and transparency.

If elected as National President, Excel plans to focus on the following key areas:

1. Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights: Excel will advocate for the protection and promotion of these fundamental rights.
2. Civil and Political Rights: He will ensure these rights are upheld for every Nigerian.
3. Special Procedures and Investigative Bodies: Excel aims to establish effective mechanisms to address human rights violations.
4. Constitutional Enhancement: He will work to translate the Nigerian Constitution into major Nigerian languages—Yoruba, Hausa, and Igbo—and other accessible formats.
5. Court of Law Advocacy: He is committed to promoting fair hearings and justice within the legal system.
6. Support for the Masses and Less Privileged: Excel will champion the rights and interests of the most vulnerable in society.
7. Voter Education: He will lead efforts to educate citizens on their voting rights during general elections.
